How to Care for our Community

There are many organizations dedicated to ensuring that the Isla Vista parks and residents are taken care of. We hope to encourage you to get involved in programs like these and give back to your community. There are programs that all people will enjoy volunteering for and know that their work directly benefits their community. Read the short descriptions of some different programs below and click on the “Contact” button for more information.

Adopt-A-Block

Sponsored by the Goleta West Sanitary District, the Adopt-a-Block program works to keep Isla Vista an environmentally safe and beautiful community through regular clean-ups of pollution by volunteer members of the community.

Children's Recreation Programs

Created for "at risk" youth in Isla Vista, the Children's Recreation Programs focus on youth development and provide a variety of activities for children in grades K through 6th, such as arts & crafts projects, educational toys and games, recreational games, and daily snacks.

Community Gardens

Started in 1986, the Community Gardens in Estero Park were established with the goal of teaching and encouraging gardeners to use organic methods to grow vegetables, flowers, and herbs. The District offers garden plots and water to community members for a quarterly fee, while the gardeners provide tools and hard work.
